Myths about cloud telephony solutions

Despite the growth of cloud telephony companies, many companies are still reluctant to get on board with these cloud-based platforms due to the concerns of data breaches and security.

However, there have been many misconceptions in the cloud telephony field which strongly needs to be busted.

1. Cloud telephony = Data breach/theft

As cloud telephony works only on the network/cloud-based platform, it is quite a common misconception that is made by many companies. Of course, when we talk about cloud storage, we mean data storage in a data center.

But this myth is debugged as the cloud telephony providers are highly secure. They have been adding security layers and additional methods of authentication to ensure the security of client data.

2. Local computers should be trusted more than cloud-based platforms

Even though the word “cloud” might make you feel like your data is always floating somewhere but in reality, it is one of the safest places to store your information. If not anything, the cloud providers definitely give a higher level of security than any local computer or system, investing in a lot of innovative and intelligent security.

3. Cloud telephony = Higher investment

Many people assume opting for cloud platforms is investing tons of money which is not totally wrong. You do have to pay like in every other business but it’s mostly on a pay-as-you-go basis.

In addition to this, there is zero investment in hardware. Cloud telephony doesn’t make you create a hole in your pocket or to your business in comparison to other businesses that might require you to invest in installation, security, or repair charges from time to time.

4. Cloud telephony can only be handled by someone good with tech.

This is one of the main issues that people think of. Being on a cloud platform or using its services doesn’t require you to be a tech geek or to have a lot of knowledge of the cloud. The services are easy to operate and function with and can be handled by anyone with little knowledge.

People's biggest misconception is that they can still stay ahead of their competitors without adopting cloud telephony. Cloud telephony is the future and will be a market of way more than it is today.

It’s better to be on board with cloud service providers and make your business run smoothly than lag behind and regret it later.
